Hi, I have a simple WordPress blog website that has a few plugins. Last month it began going down and redirecting to the install page. The hosting provider said my website was using MySQL tables with innodb instead of Myisam. And that the tables were corrupting and crashing the server. Now keep in mind, I did not choose innodb nor do I have any complex shopping cart system. I just installed WP and began using it.

Not being an IT person, I have no idea why that would happen. Can anyone lend any assistance or troubleshooting advice? The host had to restore a back up from a month ago because they said the weekly and daily backups contained the corrupt innodb tables and were not fixable.

Again, I never chose Innodb over MyiSAM. I just installed WP and installed several plugins for the blog.

Here is what hosting provider said:

...For normal websites it is always good to use myisam. The reason is because myisam is stable. Innodb tables are bound to corruption.

Your website is using innodb tables and it crashed. I tried to repair it but the attempt failed, since tables were corrupted. Innodb is the problem, even if one table is corrupt the whole mysql service will be down in the server. This is what happened here, other hosting customers were also getting affected. I was forced to run mysql in server without innodb engine, to keep the other customers happy.

Later, I tried all my best to get your site from daily/weekly backup. But that attempt failed. This is because the backups were also overwritten by corrupted data.

Then I was forced to restore the database from monthly backup dated "Mar 17 2014".

It was a bit of effort in bringing back the website site online.

Now, to prevent this in future, we suggest you to use innodb tables. You have to contact your website developer for this. He can help you in the conversion.

Again, I have no idea why that happened or how I prevent this. Is it a plug in problem?

Here is what I was running:
