UpdraftPlus does backup the MySQL Database.
UpdraftPlus will backup your Database, Plugins, Themes, Uploads and other files in WP-Content. This covers everything on a WordPress installation that is changed as standard (i.e. the content of the site). This is generally enough to restore your site.
