updraft backups are flooding mysql transaction log

I have a website which has rouglhy 500Mb mysql database and 6.5G uploads in wordpress upload directory.

The database host server has almost run out of storage space today. After some investigation it seems mysql is producing 1GB of binlog each day. Translated the binlog to human readable format and it turned out it is updraftplus backup plugin which constantly updates wp_options table on keys like updraft_jobdata_XXXXX. Values of these option keys are relatively big (~10K) which is quite expensive to overwrite that extremely many times.

My question is, is this normal? Is it possible somehow to avoid this?

Thanks!
